I would hope it means they will tell you where to go or who to contact to get it repaired !

I'm not sure tvs are repaired nowadays are they
Not for most faults no, they are basically just one huge integrated circuit. But it could be a simple problem, a guy I know had a similar problem with a nearly new TV and it was just a small fuse inside the set that had come loose.
....I hope it doesn't mean "we'll give you the runaround 'til you get fed-up"!
One of the reasons I buy TVs from John Lewis....free five year warranty and they actually repair or replace without any fuss!
even if more than a year old ..things like tvs have an expected life of at least 6 years and you can use consumer rights to get refund..I recently had a TV 18 months old die in me and I was given refund...
ginge, I took my Ipad back to John Lewis the other day as the charger had gone haywire. They said no problem, they'd fix it, I'd just have to leave the whole Ipad with them for a month or so.

Got Apple to replace the charger straight away.
