Keyboard problems

when i start my PC up, occasionally the keyboard wont respond at all. this happens about 1 in 15 start ups. when i shut down , i "hibernate" it rather than a full shutdown. if i have the keyboard problem and then hibernate again, when the PC reboots, the keyboard usually works. I have tried pushing all the conectors in at the back but still a bit stuck. more of a niggle rather than a problem.

p.s running Windows XP

Is your Keyboard connected through a USB connector or a PS2 connector ?

Do you get the same thing with your mouse ?

the Pc is fairly old (approx 6 / 7 years). i have no problem with the mouse, just the keyboard, every now and then. it is connected via a ps2 Adaptor conector, original keyboard had larger din plug, but i think it could be something to do with the PC rather than the keyboard, because this new keyboard has the same problem.
If it is a PS2 type it needs the boot sequence to initiate it. If it is USB it should always work from the hibernate situation but the PS2 may not. The only answer is to shut down instead of hibernating it should always work then
