Hi....woman here....so know very little about cars!! My 57 plate diesel Peugeot 307 estate has twice died on me over the last few weeks....first time I sat in it...hazards on....the messagexsaid something about engine oil...then on phone my partner said just try to start it...I did and it started again. I got home...checked oil...next to nothing in it. Put some in but as car was being serviced within 10 days didn't fill it up. Car serviced....two weeks ago....been fine... then tonight it cuts out again....same message on screen...I then turned engine back on...came home....checked oil and it has plenty....could this just be a computer fault? Or can anyone advise what it could be please?
So the car was ok before it was serviced then, PurpleParis.
Take the car back if I were you, They may not have replaced the oil filter correctly or they may have dislodged the electrical plug from the oil pressure switch which is just below the oil filter.
Just re read your op, PurpleParis. It happened before the service and has happened again since it was serviced.
Could be a dodgy oil pressure switch or something more serious ie oil pump problem.
Assuming that the warning light is saying low oil pressure.
Thanks Tony....but it did happen before the service too....about 10 days before....but then the oil was really low, I put some in but didn't fill as service was not long off. Then this happened again tonight...just puzzled. I remember a couple of years ago kept getting an engine management message....someone advised me to take it down the motorway for a 'blow out'....and it must have worked as it hasn't happened since....confused.com!! *Chortlesplutters*
