I want to go on holiday to the Lakes at the end of July and im struggling to find somewhere to stay for less than 200 for two people. Am I being cheap expecting to find somewhere decent for that? Its ok to reply with an honest answer! Any accomodation suggestions would help too.

See the 'caravan and camping' section in http://www.farmstayuk.co.uk/accommodation/index.asp?saction=default for the Farmstay site. One at Causewayfoot, Keswick should do you. Avilability will be the issue I would guess - also try the local tourisy information office for contacts off http://www.lakelandgateway.info/tic.asp gateway site.
Have a nice break!
in september my girl and i went to the lakes for a week to do some rock climbing. i can't remember the name of the hotell we stayed in, but it was in the town of windemere. the total cost was less than 200 for the room for a week. the hotell was 3 star, so not that scabby. although you may find that the price had gone up due to the difrent time of year. the hotell was something like the "windemere lodge hotell (# # #)
hope you find it ok, enjoy you'r trip, its a lovely part of the uk,

Hi susanlisa - Glad to help.
I'm always plugging the Farmstay option as they are really cheap - average is only about 25 b&b and you get to the best locations, as well as havingthe s/catering and caravan/camp choices too. You'll find a few working farms to try out, but most of them won't let you work due to health and safety issues, but you can certainly get to see the out of the way locations and the farms make a great base for any hol. Think 'good breakfasts' . . .
If you do get to travel about a bit, also suggest you just search for the local TIC as this will flag up special deals and the like for an area and will be a way to save the pennies.
