I agree with Cloverjo. I particularly like Cape Town in their winter when the old Dutch style properties have their fires going and there is a lovely smell of woodsmoke. I used to love horse riding around those properties
No rain when I made a January visit, but lots of the 'Cape Doctor' (wind) and the 'tablecloth' (fog) descended as soon as we made it to the top of Table Mountain (by cable car). Beautiful place, fascinating trip to Robben Island and really nice people.
Tilly2 CT and ECape are brilliant that time of the year - if you're in CT go over Chapmans Peak to Noordehoek - brilliant 5/6km beach with absolutely nothing on it in the way of cafes, tents etc- completely unspoiled. Sea is freezing! Go to cafe roux for a meal and to soak up the atmosphere and ECape has lots to offer although in my opinion Knysna is spoiled now being very built up.
