Bangkok nightlife

I'm going to be in bangkok for four days in july, and was wondering if anybody can recommend areas to go at night that are safe for a few drinks. Not really intrested in going to the go go bars (although my husband may disagree!) Has any one got some insider knowledge? and has anyone got any suggestions on what not to miss while we are there?

For drinks, try Sirocco at the top of State Tower on Silom Road. 60 floors up with spectacular views. Vertigo on the Banyan Tree on Sathorn Road is the same idea.

Bedsupper Club is trendy, as is Q Bar. However, pretty much anywhere is safe, and you should try a Mai Tai or two.

There have been 101 suggestions (well, maybe 7) on this site before on must do's in Bangkok. Try searching through those as a starting point. Have a great time

I recommend the Banyan tree as well. If you go there just before it gets dark, you can have a beer and watch the sun go down, and all the lights come on.

Heard good reports about Bed Supper Club, although never managed to get there.

The decent bars are not in one central part of Bangkok, they tend to be scattered across the whole city. It is best to move around by taxi / tuk-tuk if you want to visit more than one bar in the evening.

I have never had any problems with Bangkok. It is a very touristy city, and there is always lots of people around. I guess if you leave the crowds and go to other areas, then that might be a different issue.
