Problem accessing a website
Would any kind ABer care to try this (safe) website on a PC? A friend has already tried it on their Mac and was able to access it no bother.
There is a badminton tornament in Tours, France just now, and this site is supposed to have details on it. The page comes up briefly but then gives an error . Perhaps something to do with a pop-up blocker (even though I've altered its settings).
Thanks

Ethel, I installed Firefox (reluctantly) and I could access the site. There is quite a bit more to it! I was ignoring the error code:-
HTTP 500.100 - Internal Server Error
I Googled it and it is something to do with ASP and possibly SQL Server! Googled it and got this:-
This problem occurs because there is an error processing the ASP script and "Friendly HTTP error messages" are enabled in Internet Explorer which do not allow you to see the details of the problem.
In IE, turn off Friendly HTTP error messages by choosing tools - internet options - advanced. Then you should get the real error message and line number of the error.
This then revealed:-
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80040e57'
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]String or binary data would be truncated.
/LM/W3SVC/208/ROOT/global.asa, line 81
All this for one site! However it may be indicating a problem that could occur in the future.
I'll have to install SQL Server Express Edition (I've been experimenting with the new Visual Basic Express Edition and this might have upset it).
Hope to solve the problem in IE soon.
I agree with ethel; dump IE for any sites other than the ones that need it, and convert to Firefox. So many reasons that you should.
however, regarding your problem, the error code you give is due to their side of things, so shouldn't pose any problems to your IE, and perhaps was something intermittent.
