Has anyone had issues with making a bank transfer either accidentally transferring to wrong account or, having been scammed (online purchase). And has anyone got the money back from this

Whenever I set up a new payee for a transfer I always transfer just £1 to check it has gone to the right place then transfer the rest as I am always worried I could key the wrong number.

Yes. Had a purchase show on my statement that I'd never made. Bank refunded but insisted I tell the police. Didn't seem to realise it wasn't some unknown person that had taken my money without my permission, the bank had. If someone had stolen from the bank they ought to report it, not cover their loss my taking money from my account and expect me to report their theft for them. Even stranger, the cop seemed to think I'd not sign the statement as I might suddenly remember buying something !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The bank didn't take the money from yur account though to cover its loss. Someone else took it and the bank reimbursed you. But I agree it's shouldn't be up to you to report it to the police- unless they felt a family member for example had been involved.
The recent Tesco episode was worrying because it shows criminals in Brazil or wherever it was can get into a bank's systems and inconvenience us in the short term.

I've accidentally entered a wrong digit on a (paper) form when transferring money from my account to someone else's. I had no problem getting my money back.
Santander phoned me to alert me to the fact that someone had taken out £800 from my account, across a three day period using a cash machine nowhere near to where I live. I got the money back very easily.
Although many people love to criticise them, most High Street banks are very good at sorting out problems with money going astray.

No they took it from the bank. There had been no permission to extract money from my account and so the bank was responsible for keeping my money safe; so any false claim that they fail to spot is a crime on them not me. They opt to pay a false claim then they decide to be generous and charitable with their own money, and not try to reimburse themselves with mine; money that they are supposed to be keeping safe.
sorry I don't follow all of that OG- yes, the crime was against the bank- and it was them that lost out not you (although you lost out temporarily until it was discovered and sorted). I agree as I said before though that i can't see why you would have to call the police. Criminals are clever and can clone cards or find other ways of taking money from accounts.
