Doubt they will, I have both received as change and paid for Taxi journeys with mine and almost all the drivers are Muslim.
My local shop, owned by Muslims, is very happy to accept my new fivers when I buy a bottle of wine from him. They sell pre-packed ham and bacon, too.
Cow fat banned by Hindu's. Pig fat banned by Muslim's. Fat banned by Daily Mail.
Jews don't pork either dave I recall
Quite a few countries use this type of 'plastic' money. What say them?
Jesus, what will they moan about next,
Clearly an insult to the profit.
There's nowt so queer as folk.
The laws of legal tender mean that if you hand over a £5 note for something costing £2.50 for example, the vendor is not obliged to give any change.
That might go some way to explaining the 'no change given' employed by shameless, profiteering bus companies although personally, I think I'm reading tripe.

The washing machine can't destroy them.

Cue jokes re: money laundering.
No animal products in the Scottish fivers. I heard on the news that some Hindus are concerned about the tallow version because the tallow comes from cows
The BOE said yesterday, "We are aware of some people's concerns about traces of tallow in our new £5 note. We respect those concerns and are treating them with the utmost seriousness," its statement said.

"This issue has only just come to light, and the Bank did not know about it when the contract was signed.

"[Supplier] Innovia is now working intensively with its supply chain and will keep the Bank informed on progress towards potential solutions," it added.
Who are 'they' TWR?
AOG - //Would our local Pakistani shops be within their right to refuse to class these notes as legal tender? //

I would suggest that they would have to provide a reason that qualifies within the law - and I am not sure religious practice is covered.

No doubt there will be a test case along in a day or so.
