Boy in a coma?

When i was around 7 or 9 i remember watching a tv show- which i am sure was on terrestrial tv (channel 4 or 5 maybe) On a Saturday or Sunday.
It was about a boy who was in a coma and about life going on around him as he was in hospital and a home. It also featured his dreams in which events that happened seemed to affect his condition.
I think it was set in America and i seem to remember forests where in it alot.

If anyone has any ideas what im on about i would be so so greatfull.

Did he keep making a strange 'tcch' sound randomly?

Did it finish with him somehow being propelled from his bed through the hospital window?
