Manchester Police Notice

have received an e mail from Manchester Police apparently I have been named as a driver of speeding vehicle in Manchester doing 70 in a 30 zone at 11.58 on 1st December..notice of pending prosecution..gives fixed camera number and says there is a video clip..which I have not opened....providing evidence that will be used in court......any thoughts ?? obviously I was not in Manchester at the time..

They but lists from companies minty. It's way past time that practice was made illegal. Even government departments do it!

contact the police by phone or call in most likely your number plate has been duplicated .thousands are to get away with fines and paying for a full tank of fuel

Delete it - the police send speeding notices by post, not by e-mail.

They may have obtained the list from a dealer who harvests mail addresses or they may have just guessed it or used a bot to generate them- if they send out 100,000 they don't mind if 50000 turn out to be invalid

Some years ago I received a letter from the Dorset police saying that a speed camera had caught me speeding in Bournemouth ( I live approx 10 miles North of Brum ). I phoned the constable named on the letter and explained that I had never ever been to Bournemouth in my life, he asked me for the make, model and colour of my car and said that he would get back to me the following day, he phoned me the next day and said that the car on the photo that the speed camera caught was the same make and model as my car but the opposite colour ( my car was Black the car on the photo was White ). Turns out that someone had cloned my car registration.
