Only in my shoulder but not back sorry.
Can't help I'm afraid (my tenosinovitus cleared up while awaiting hospital appointment for steroid injection) , but see related questions below for some experiences.
Had them in my fingers. Solved the problem but it was painful for a while.
I've had steroid injections during pregnancy to strengthen the baby's lungs.

The first one hurt but they did it slowly. The ones after that weren't too bad as I made them do it as quick as poss.

Not sure they can do that in your back though (mine was in the thigh)

I've had steroid injections in my facet joints and caudal epidural. Both were easy and painless if you ask for sedation. Sometimes they help and sometimes the don't. Steroid injections are hit and miss but are definitely worth trying as they can work wonders. Don't expect instant cures though, they often take months to work.
If you are worried about it
dont have them done until the person doing it has explained to you what he is gonna do, what the reasonable results are and what nasty things ( complications ) if any happened

I am very keen you ask him what HIS results are too

I am sure Sqad will be around ....

[ Fren' had it done - and said he had some relief around 4 weeks which is reasonable. BUT he has also had treated prostate cancer and the doctors scanned and scanned and said the back was not related to his prostate - PSA now normal. Difficult to say bit technical sorry ]
The first one I had in my shoulder had no effect whatsoever and hurt like hell. The second, a month later, was put in a different place, also hurt like hell but gave me a miraculous cure from months of pain and it's never returned.
Yes. Had a couple in my spine at a pain management clinic. Neither did me any good as my problem was not orthopaedic but vascular and waste my time for nine years virtually immobile until I had an aerotic bypass and bi femoral grfts. As a male the first gave me an awful feeling. The needle was ok but I wish they had told me they were spraying with ice cold liquid on the injection site first. I levitated. As they injected the steroid into my disks I felt as though my testicles were in a vice and being squeezed.Otherwise no probs except it was the wrong treatment for the wrong diagnosis. :-)
Had a few epidurals in the spine prior to surgery in the theatre prior to General. No problem except the ice cold spray. Nothing to worry about.
I had a steroid injection into my spine back in 2003 (it was when I first discovered that my back was in a bit of a bad way). I had no ill-effects - but when the doctor said 'rest' he meant REST! It eased the problem for quite some time.

Currently, I have just had my second lot of Steroids injected into my left wrist to aid inflamed arthritis following a broken bone in Dec. 2014. The injections are painless (following numbing injection) and it hurts a bit whilst it wears off for a few days, but last time I was pain free for over 2 months (a fair trade-off) - I wait to find out about this time.

Be of good cheer. I have twice been offered surgery to correct my disc situation, but have managed to get through with the help of an osteopath/physio. At one time I had 2 bulged discs trapping the sciatic nerve in 3 places - boy, did that hurt!

Now I go to see an osteopath at the first signs of trouble and so far, so good. Just wish it was available on the NHS - as it is in France. Good luck, don't worry about the injections. :)

Thankyou mark, I'm just worried if the injections are painful getting them done.
Lisa- I always ask the anesthetist if he can give me a bit more sedative than normal cos it takes loads to make a difference with me. And ask if he can administer it a minute or so before the injection. I have had it done where they squirt the liquid in and immediately do the injection- before it's had time to take effect. Then they told me off for flinching! Last time I did the above and was fast asleep before they injected, so remember nothing! :)
