When the "USB for charging" notification comes up on the phone, tap it and select "Transfer files (MTP)".
If it doesn't open automatically, on the computer, double-click "This PC"
When Explorer opens, double click the phone
Double click Internal STorage
Double click on the DCIM folder, you may find there are additional folders in there - possibly called Camera or Photos.
One of them will contain you photos which you can drag or cut/paste to wherever you want on your computer.

Many thanks for your help.. I did everything you said step by step but still came across problems? The first bit didnt come up like that all but I did get the DCIM folder come up..which I clicked on.... somehow a bout 12 photos moved over onto my photos on the laptop and that was it.? Still got a lot more to do but stuck again.? can you think of anything else please.? Thankyou
I see that the J5 can take an SD card.
If you have inserted on, then your pics are probably stored on that, in which case follow the same instructions as before except the line that says "Double click Internal Storage". At that point you should have a choice of Internal storage and SD card (or something else) Double click on the "something else", then double-click on the DCIM folder.
