bought a 3 yr old kia sportage, the heater it seems is very very slow to heat up. cold mornings and im waiting 30 mins for the blower to get hot, i know its a bigger deisel car but my last car heated in no time. do i push the aircon button, whats the aircon button for ? the controls are set so airflow is coming from outside and not the circulating airflow from inside the vehicle.

is there something wrong maybe, anything i can do to fix it ?

A diesel takes time to heat up Diesel, A/C Circulation of Air that runs through a rad tokeep the cars interior cool.
Dick....I am not sure why your heater is taking so long to warm....others may have answer for you on that.

But if you have AC, then use it ! Air conditioning isn't just for the summer months, to cool a hot car down. It also dries the air much better and quicker that any other method. It will demist your car long before the heater gets hot.

So...turn your heating and ventilation controls to the windscreen, turn your "blower " up high, and turn on the AC.

Try it !
Not only will clear your windscreen, but it will clear the whole car, including the side windows.

my kia diesel gets warm after a 5 min run then hot after 10,and on this one if you put to demist the air con auto starts.
First thing to check is your coolant level. If thats ok then possibly have a check made on the Coolant thermostat which could be stuck in the open position.

Aircon will indeed remove moisture/condensation inside the car, but will need a small amount of heat through the aircon radiator to start working.
My Kuga takes about the same time, dick.
I live half a mile from the M4 and my Volvo diesel is blowing warm air by the time I get there (5 mins).
