I've just opened a bottle of Lidl's Claret, priced at just £2.99 (down from £3.99). I was expecting it to be high in tannins and lacking in body but it's surprisingly quaffable! (OK, maybe it's a little sweet for a red wine and it's certainly not a classic Bordeaux but it's definitely not going straight down the sink!).

If you're interested, most Lidl stores are open until 6.00pm on Christmas Eve and you probably won't find it on the main wine display. (Look for an 'end of aisle' display instead).

Happy drinking and Merry Christmas!

Just returned from our new super-duper Lidl but, alas, no £2:99 Claret !

Got a bottle of their Cabernet Sauvignon instead, for £3:29 !

Very quiet in there this morning....much less busy than a normal Saturday morning. Weird !
