The media are concentrating on his big hits (understandably) but for me his awesome talent lay in the lyrics of songs like Mothers Pride, One More Try, Kissing A Fool, Cowboys & Angels and the utterly brilliant Praying for Time with the evocative 'and charity is a coat you wear, twice a year' lyrics.
Very, very sad at his passing.
Oh well, I guess we have differing views. I certainly would.
Whatever one's opinion he certainly struggled with fame, celebrity and all that life threw at him:
He was the first to admit he was ill equipped to handle fame and much of his life was wreathed in guilt emanating from childhood - whether that still tortured him in his fifties I don't know.
Heart failure is a fickle thing and can have a few causes, time will tell.
