Hope you are enjoying the festivities. Just wanted to point out that it is perfectly correct in French to say salut, our equivalent of cheers! The more elaborate way is of course A votre sante then the answer will be a la votre or a la tienne depending how well you know the person, but never just sante. Sorry I don't know where my French accents are!
