can anyone explain how air con works in my landrover discovery, and how do i recharge the system. cheers

I think you have to be certified to handle refrigerant to recharge vehicle airconditioning.

There are people like this though who'll come out and do it quite reasonably

Car air con works in a similar way to a household fridge.

You cannot recharge the system yourself without being highly qualified and having expensive equipment to do it.

It is not simply a matter of re-charging, the old refridgerant is drained as it can get contaminated with moisture, the system is checked for leaks and then the system is recharged to the correct pressure with new refridgerant, air con specialist charge �50-�80 for doing this, do not go to a main dealer but check out air con specialists.

Actually if you go to somewhere like Halfords (UK) they sell canisters of Aircon recharge wich if you read the basic instructions on the back its really easy. I did mine and it works a treat with no problems. :-)

thanks for all input, pretty certain system is empty as there was a hose off but i think i'll leave it to the profesionals.
