Car air con works in a similar way to a household fridge.
You cannot recharge the system yourself without being highly qualified and having expensive equipment to do it.
It is not simply a matter of re-charging, the old refridgerant is drained as it can get contaminated with moisture, the system is checked for leaks and then the system is recharged to the correct pressure with new refridgerant, air con specialist charge �50-�80 for doing this, do not go to a main dealer but check out air con specialists.
