I take 140 mg of morphine in the morning and 140 mg at night.is this classed as a high dose and is this causing me lack of sleep.
I missed a days morphine a month ago and I was in a terrible state with
sweating and twitching-how hard is it to stop taking it.
It depends upon the reason that you are taking the morphine, as on the face of it, yes 280 mgms a day IS a high dose.
On the other hand, if you have a terminal disease e.g cancer, then there is no maximum dose.
is it working? WHy do you want to stop taling it?
If your pain can be controlled on a smaller dose - great, but you will need a plan of how to decrease your dose to avoid withdrawal symptoms (and a relapse in pain)
I agree with bednobs.........although the effect of morphine on sleep can vary from patient to patient..i.e it can change the quality of sleep and can cause insomnia.
