I'm having a gastroscopy in 10 days time, and I'm getting anxious about it. I've been asked whether I'd like to be sedated or just have the throat numbed. If any of you have had this procedure, could you please tell me what it's like. I have been told it's not painful but quite uncomfortable. Not sure to have sedative or not. Apparently takes 2-4 minutes. Tia.
Have'not read answereviews already posted, but from my perspective, have had it done a fews times, the first time I had the spray, it is supposed to number the mouth and throat, but in reality, only the mouth, sedation is by far the best, and painless, but with sedation, you will need a lift back from the hospital. Hope this issue of some help.
That's made me feel better yet. Hope I have similar experience. I'm trying to put back of my mind. Had to come off Omeprazol for 10 days before. Suffering from heart burn on and off and had pains in top of my back last night. Still, I've got my liquid Gaviston which helps.
I had throat spray. I hated it and had to tell him to take the tube out again bfore he was finished. (He was very grumpy.) If I have it done again it'll be with a sedative.
I had it without sedative and it was awful. I'm pretty hardy about medical stuff but it was gag gag gag the whole time. I was writhing around and had to be held down. Honestly - have the sedative. Why would you not?! Make it a little easier for yourself!
