"pay" For A Nanny On Holiday

My daughter started a job as a nanny to a family with two children. She is on a 40 hours/week salary but there is flexibility on both sides, ie the parents can ask her to work in the evenings/weekends and any hours over the 40, she is paid, "overtime."

They are taking her on a "holiday" for a week in June, for a week in, Portugal.

Does anyone have any idea what she should expect/ask for, in terms of her pay?

normal wages if she is looking after the children. Any overtime paid as usual. She is relocating her workplace she is not on holiday.

i would imagine same terms as she is on.only that they pay all costs ie flights accommodation meals etc.and that she gets time for herself like at home.

I think she is expected to share her room with the 6 month old.

Share a bedroom with the 6 month old...? She is working through the night and has no place of her own.....I am assuming she is not normally live in and that if she is she has her own room... some negotiating I would think

i would agree with mally - if she's going to be expected to tend to the 6mo overnight too, would expect a consideration

does she normally have 24 hr responsibility for the baby ?? seems a bit much to me...

No, she doesn't have 24 hour responsibility.

By putting the baby into her room they may well be expecting her to be on duty during the night as well as the day time. She needs to have the expectations of her clarified...either she works at night with the baby in her room and has the days off (night shift pays more of course) that also means that her room is a no go area for any one else except her during the day. I fail to see why the parents can't have the responsibility for their child at night. She really must get it made clear... and decide if she wants to do all this.

but she will have 24 hour responsibility placed on her if she is expected to share a room with the baby...why can't baby go in parents room ?..... that is not a holiday ..that is taking advantage !!!
