Has Anybody Had A Similar Experience With Sky?

Our sky package is set to run out next month. We have been with Sky a year and been very happy customers.
We currently have a decent discount applied to the account so I realised there was going to be a jump to renew for the next 12 months.
A JUMP....... I'd say so. We currently pay £31.50 per month and for exactly the same package they want £68 from next month. I don't understand the justification. Do they reel you in with a good price as a new customer and then when your appetite is wet with all the movies and sports, apply over 50% extra charges for the same package?

Sky is madness at the full £80 or so for the total package - at £35 it's an affordable indulgence - and the Sky Go app on my iPad works a treat when away from home.

Sorry had my ear to the phone so didn't fully digest the link to NowTV.
The family ideally would like sport, movies and box sets. If it was just me I could survive on regular TV with sport add on.
Anyway - I have cancelled all together in almost certain knowledge that some time before my term is up, they will call me with a good offer.
I have got a message from a friend who previously worked for Sky saying that in all honestly the Sky salesperson wont have access to the best promotional offer codes UNTIL your account is registered as cancelled.
Your account info will then sit on a list and be part of somebody's daily task sheet about a week or so before you actually lose the Sky service.
The call will come soon enough - let's see what they can come up with as if by magic next month!!

Get the basic sky package and then buy one of these boxes, its a one off yearly payment of about £60, for that you can watch every premier league game, golf, cricket, Sky Sports and Movies, BT Sport etc etc, thousands of films and box sets, channels from around the world, I bought one back in August and its great, i'm a Southampton supporter and have watched every game they've played, even when they're not on Sky or BT. https:/ /www.pi kaflik. co.uk/p roducts /satple x-in-a- box-for -12-mon ths

I forgot to update those who were good enough to comment back in November.
Long story short;
I cancelled Sky only to get a call from one of their "Cancellation supervisors" or something like that.
"Can I just ask if there is any way we can keep you as a customer, anything we can look at to make sure you are getting exactly what you want etc etc".
This was the call I was expecting and I had been assured that this conversation would produce the best discount.
I decided to be cheeky and say the only way that I would stay is if my payments were frozen at £31.50.
The very very best he could do would be to apply a 50% discount for 10 months brining the payments to £34 and then 2 final payments at £68.
I said NO.
Apparently this wasn't the "very very" best he could do as he came back with a 60% discount for 10 months.
I am content now and holding out (although it is tedious) does mean you can knock a hell of a lot off the original quote.
