I've noticed that a lot of people (not just on AB) put lolol id there posts. Well that doesn't make sense because lol mean laugh out loud, so you'd be saying laugh out loud out loud???

It is bad enough that acronyms are such a blight on the
English language (especially those with multiple meanings and thus a cause of much confusion) without the added indignity of the definition not being grammatically correct.

singular - laugh out loud
plural - laughs out loud... not laugh out louds

Therefore LOLOL = Lots of laughs out loud.

Using that logic would indicate that Postmaster Generals is correct when in fact the plural is Postmasters General. Likewise for Courts Martial.

Spoonful (note the single 'l') is a word in itself which is distinct from the phrase 'spoon full' and, of course, the plural is spoonfuls.

So I could use 3 spoonfuls of sugar in a recipe but I could also possess 3 spoons full of sugar.
