English version of Babapapa
My young daughter is obsessed with the french cartoon Babapapa. We have a french dvd but noone in the family speaks french!. I believe it was shown in britain in the 70's in english and wondered if anyone knew if it is possible to get a dvd/video of the english version, otherwise were going to have to start paying or french lessons!

She probably understands much of it anyway - at a young age I'm quite convinced kids can pick up any language. Maybe you could get a simple French book and learn together? Otherwise you could get a student from a local VIth form college to help you out once they've got a good grade at GCSE this summer. They'll be cheaper than a normal teacher and could sit with both of you! :-)
Oh but in answer to your question.... sorry no! :-$
Have you tried Ebay? They often have video/dvds that are unavailable elsewhere. I did a search today for Barbapapa (it has an R in it) and they have some French tapes and German VHS box sets available, but nothing in English at the moment. However, a forum devoted to cult TV classics lists several English Ebay auction that have already ended, so there must be some English videos out there somewhere!
Try searching amazon.co.uk for Barbapapa. There are lots of books in English and French available. Maybe you could find English books of the French cartoons you have? That way you could reinforce the learning process.
Meantime, the shows are for young children, so I agree with acw. Your daughter will understand the story in French without realising she is learning another language.
madiesmum - try browsing the catalogue on the official website, or contacting them?!
If you have been searching on the websites suggested, you might want to note that Barbapapa actually has an 'r' in it.
