Have had a few posts on here in the past about the merits of having / not having a television. (including one memorable post about the fact that I havnt had a tv license for years...but we'll let that one slide for now)
However, since last Friday, Ive been back on broadband and have put my TV in storage and where my TV once stood I now have my desk and Laptop.
In the past I have lived quiet happily without a TV but this time it seems somehow disquieting.
Is it possible to actually get so used to having a TV that you get withdrawals from having something that you hardly used, viewing things that you never really took notice off and was in effect a piece of furniture?
Just missing that 'picture' in the background.
Madness...

You're having withdrawal symptoms. Be strong! Fight it! Why is your TV in storage, and apparently close at hand? Are you afraid that you will succumb once more to the dread box? Get rid of it completely! Give it to charity! Sign the pledge! I promise you that you will feel liberated! Hallelujah!

LOL Bookbinder,
I really dont want a tv in my flat. It was a poor substitute for the richness of the internet...
So you don't need to join TVA then, Nailit?
You could, of course, be very selective about what you watch. We have a nice largish smart TV which never goes on before about 6.50pm and we only have it on when there's something that we really want to see....having previously been through the Radio Times and circled the progs that are worth watching. The set is "off" at all other times because we both dislike TV as a "background". Some nights it's not on at all! There are so many other things to do that we quite like it when there's nothing on we want to see. (The radio, however, is on all the time that the TV is off).

(see what I did there?)

its radio with me, I need voices. But for some strange reason I am missing TV when ive never missed it b4?
I need something to stare at.

I thought about this after you asked your question about being happy single.
I only put the tv on if there's something I really want to watch. OH puts it on as soon as he gets up.
Nailit, I guess you're missing the sound and flashing screen rather than the actual content of the programmes.

(What a load of rubbish is on most of the time -an aside, sorry.)
I couldn't do without my TV even if it's just on as background noise. You'll probably adjust in time though ...
How could anyone live without Homes under the Hammer?
Excuse me..you can watch tv on your laptop.......
