Phone Photos

I have a new phone which at the moment is getting the better of me. I have taken some photos but when I try to attach them to a text I get a message saying that they exceed the file size. I have tried cropping but that doesn't help. Is it possible to reduce the size before I take a photo. I have a Vodafone smart platinum 7. That's just one of the things I am struggling with but small steps. thanks

There seems to be an option for adjusting the image size there.

Thank you muchly Buenchico that solved the problem. I have downloaded the user manual but this is going to be one steep learning curve as I do not always understand much of the language , far too techy. Trial and error seems to be the best way forward maybe. many thanks
