Transfer Apps From Old Android Mobile To New Android Mobile

When i transfer apps (and maybe data) from my old android mobile to a new android mobile do the apps vanish from my old mobile or do they still remain?
I would like to keep them on both mobiles.

Can you not simply download them from new from Play Store, or wherever you have them ?
