Its about time the the present Tory Transport Minister got off his backside and become more involved this dispute.
Even without this current problem, Southern have provided an appalling service for years, and yet Grayling just sits back and does begger all !
As a person who needed the assistance of the Guard last summer, to get him out of a toilet where the door had jammed, I would welcome a Guard of the train, otherwise I would have been forced to pull the communication cord.
To run a train with 1000's of passengers on board, and only one railway employee amongst them, seems the highest folly.

I live on the south coast and think it's appalling that, once again, the public are the one's who suffer. Just before Christmas, children were taking their mock exams and some couldn't even get in to school on time, if at all. Not to mention the working public who depend on a proper service to get them too and from their work places.
They were offering only a bus service from Chichester to Portsmouth on some occasions, which had to stop at various pick up points so took an eternity to get there and back home.
The government should do something to prevent this happening again and again.

Today Mick Whelan accepted the nomination for ASLEF to be awarded the coveted Safety At Work prize. He stated that safety is our primary concern for both employee members, and even the members of the public. Safe trains are at the forefront of our struggle against repression, and as far as I am concerned, there is no safer train than a stationary one.
