I remember seeing Mott The Hoople the miod-seventies and being in awe of Mr Watts' (for the time seriously daring) tonsorial silver and electric-blue colour combination.
The gig was also memorable for the evening's support act who played loud flash glam for twenty minutes whereupon the singer split his trousers and the band left the stage to some applause.
They were a newly signed glam-beat combo on their first, and destined to be last support tour - they were called Queen.
