I have made a momentous decision & stopped watching ALL of the soaps. The story lines in Corrie,Emmerdale & Eastenders have become so atrocious I can no longer tolerate any of them, when I think how they all started when they were were worth watching. I feel that it is the only thing to do in protest.
Me too Ron. They are ridiculous now. At the risk of sounding pathetic, I used to love Emmerdale in the early days when Sam used to grow his vegetables, Amos and Henry kept not seeing eye to eye in the Woolpack, Seth was a poacher and Annie kept having the vicar to tea.
I know I am an old fashioned git, but one of the things common to all the soaps that I am getting sick & tired of is the free for all attitude to sexual matters.
I'm a big fan and will never tire of it BUT does anyone ever think about Michelle's other sons, her real one (who she said will always be in her life) and the one she thought was hers? Why do we never see them now?
The soaps have long been free and easy about sexual matters, ron. Ken Barlow got his girlfriend Susan Cunningham pregnant in 1960 and never married her.
I am not talking about marriage. I mean the constant reference to going upstairs by both sexes as if it is now the only thing in the world that matters.
Women leading their bemused partners by the hand saying come on love let's go upstairs, two men slobbering over each other, I know it is all the rage now to be homosexual but for goodness sakes calm down a bit.
I agree, Ron. I used to like Corrie, EE and Brookside. I watched Emmerdale when it was Emmedale Farm and it was all about the farm and the Woolpack.
I can't bear any of them now - well, Brookside has gone after everyone turned into supermodels.
I read this thread just to see if there are any of the old Corrie characters still in it. There has been mention of Andy. Is he the same Andy who was one of Beverley Callard's twins?
