The Role Of Religion - Trump's Inauguration.
20 Answers
DT during his campaign spoke little about religion but some of you may have spotted the 'religiously rich' influences in the ceremony.
He doesn't speak a great deal about his faith but the power of positive thinking has certainly worked for him during his life and he massively defied the odds to win the presidency.
One speaker at the ceremony stated that the 'rains came as a sign of God's blessing' during DT's speech.
Could it be that God is effectively DT's business partner and that the millions of 'Doubting Donalds' should themselves have more faith?

In America, millions of atheists would vote for a Christian candidate, but millions of Christians would not vote for an atheist candidate.
Given Mr Trump's declared intention to relax the no-gun zones around schools, he could certainly wear a tee-shirt with the phrase 'Praise God And Pass The Ammunition' and not be accused of bad taste.

Do you think religion is that important in politics? It wasn't an area that was really discussed in detail during campaigning.
Judging by the millions of disatisfied protestors before he had even sat down in the White House, would suggest that he is not easily going to get away with controversial slogans such as the T-shirt scenario you suggest.

I don't think it's important in terms of a campaign position - if it were, either or both of the candidates would have used it.
But as I said, I think in America, declaring yourself as a Christian, even a token one, gets you past the awkward questions of swearing your oath on a bible at inauguration time which would be launched if you had identified yourself as a non-believer.
