Can’t help wondering why they voted pretty much overwhelmingly to put the question to the public in the first place …. unless, of course, they were confident of a different response. Nah … couldn’t be that, could it? What a disingenuous bunch they are!

Did we vote as individuals within the UK or did we vote within our constituency or nation (England, Scotland, Wales, N Ireland)?
I was under the impression we voted as individuals. Therefore the majority of those that (bothered) about to vote, voted leave.
Jim has it down to a t on the motion.
The sticking point for the remainers seems to be the single market but you can't put Jims motion with 'as long as we get to stay in the single market' At what cost are remainers willing to stay in the single market? How much money are they going to want the country to pay to stay in something that could restrict us in our dealings with the rest of the world. As has been pointed out by EU beurocrats you can't have entry to the single market without (hefty) payments and free movement.

Nothing has changed substantially since before yesterday's ruling. The government knew it was bound to lose. The only thing that has changed is that the Supreme Court has made it clear that the consent of Parliament is required to trigger A50, that no preconditions are necessary to undertake that process and that the devolved Parliaments (or whatever grand title it is they have been bestowed with) have not to be consulted. Calm down everybody!

I suspect some are panicking a bit shale we say because of Project Fear. It has instilled a deep feeling of mistrust of Parliament.
Nut as NJ says, just stay calm and see what happens. if MP's do vote against and it fails then millions can take to the streets, force a GE and then there is the chance to dump any treacherous MP's if they have not represented the feelings of their constituents.
The Bremoaners will not stop, I suspect that on a change of Government they will campaign to go back in. Much of their campaign is driven by people who make money on the back of the majority f us. They wont want to loose that so taking it slowly, dotting I's and crossing T's will make it more difficult for them to undermine without them being widely exposed to public wroth.
