That seems a dangerous precedent to set to me. I mean how do you know they would have won; the cheater might have been panicking at his slow time and misjudged his baton handover//
I don't think it sets a dangerous precedent. As to the 'cheater' might have panicked, I think a panel should review the race and if there was any doubt concerning the outcome then that is a different set of circumstances.
The panel could assess whether, on balance, the effect the banned drug may have had on the athlete's performance was such that it resulted in an unfair advantage for the team.
It is my assertion that punishing the other 3 members is excessive and unreasonable given the wide margin of victory.
