I have a grudging respect for his cheek, but that's not to say I approve.

I suspect Aldi would prefer that this wasn't public knowledge, as it makes them look very silly.
Hopkirk - there will always be a negative story about one of the big foodstores.

Asda had it with their dirty delivery crates, tesco have had their woes. I don't think Aldi, who are doing very well, will be overly concerned over this being splashed about. They just want to be a highly profitable organisation like the rest.
The fraudster probably complimented the manager on his store and maybe said, "I'd like to shake your hand" Cashier sees and automatically thinks the return without receipt has been authorised.
Should easily be caught with good CCTV like that.
