Camera Roll Versus Photo Stream

Since updating my ipad mini to Ios 9. I have both the above in my photos. Are they identical, do I need them both, can I delete one without deleting all my other saved photos?

You do not need both. Photo stream is so you can send photos to other apple devices. Your camera roll you cannot delete as it is your master file. If you do not have any other Apple devices simply turn off Photostream. Settings > Photos > Photostream

Thanks Sycamore... In Settings I have iCloud photo library switched off. I have Photo Stream and ICloud Photo Sharing switched on. I dont want to share any photos and do not have an iPhone. I am worried that switching off Photo Stream will delete all the photos in mCollections so I need reassuring !! Can I also switch off iCloud Photo Sharing without losing my photos ? Also can I somehow get rid of Selfies, Screenshots, Panoramas and Videos in my Album but keep them in my Collections? Sorry about all the questions ...

Only just seen you reply. Your camera roll is your main library. You will not lose any photos by switching off Photostream or iCloud sharing as everything is in your camera roll. Collections is just another way of looking at your albums but in date order.
