Lots of whisky, lots of haggis neaps and tatties, lots of really difficult to understand poetry.

But most of all lots of laughs
Question Author
have you been a few, islay? do you own a kilt?
Of course I own a kilt! lol and yes have hosted a burns night every year since I married but this year was unable to due to ill health.
Question Author
maybe i should have a look at youtube. if you dont mind telling me, what´s your tartan?
My commiserations piggy....I thought you lived in Spain?
Nothing worse that Scottish ex Pats and that includes those who come to England.
Only been to one Burn's night and that was enough, couldn't stand them telling me hoe the countryside was more beautiful than the UK, the Education was better, the Health service was better than the England, standard of living was higher..........I had to say "Then what the *** hell are you doing here, why don't you go back?"
As for the dancing and screaming..............don't mention it.
Good luck!
Lots of fun and Banter and plenty of whisky flowing, don;'t be surprised to see Haggis as a starter, increasing tendency to have the beastie as a starter and beef of some sort from a main, don't mind it but the haggis should be the star!
Question Author
whose upset you hamish mcsqad?
Sqad - ex pats tend to be even more Scottish than the Scots still in Scotland.
That is just the way it is ............
Question Author
dont worry yourself sqad, its going to be in madrid, so most of the guests will be spanish, apparently the scottish community in madrid is wee, lol
wolf...exactly.

piggy.....will be interested in you comments tomorrow.

///the countryside was more beautiful than the UK///

They've left already, how did I miss that?
Haggis is always the start of my Burns night Ninefingers

The stater is normally a mini scots fry and then a clootie pudding and heather icecream for pudding.
Question Author
yes thats is the case wolf, most of the people i know who are going tonight, have never been to one in bonny scotland.
Many variations over the years Islay, i have my own preferences. Last military one I did was a started of a haggis tart with a "small" (yeah I know, pandering to the southerner softies ) amount of Haggis tatties and neeps and a creamy sauce, fillet of beef with a whisky and haggis sauce (lovely), crannachan and ample amounts of Athol Brose!

As long as I'm plied with ample single malt I'm happy
Question Author
so no IRN BRU? lol
That's for the morning after!
piggynose....a good haggis/neeps/tatties dinner with plenty amber liquid..the usual address to the haggis and the lads and lassies address' usually very funny..there may be other poerty by Burns ..music and some traditional dancing if space...band is present... sometimes an open mike kind of thing for singing and recitals..good fun !!! enjoy xx
It has always puzzled me as to why the Scots are so keen to celebrate a rambling, incoherent, alcoholic, syphilitic tax collector.

For Sqad xxxxx...
Question Author
