Why Abbreviations Are Not

Why does A/B not recognise the correct capitol letters abbreviations of some businesses or company's, example, The BBC?

A quirk in the way the titles read after posting, am sure it's been mentioned before.

It does spoil the look of a header.

To stop people 'shouting' in the title. Sadly this policy of no successive capital letters does make some titles look daft.

That's just the title - we force titles to be Title Text: So That It Looks Neat Most Of The Time.

We could swap it back to freeform if there was enough people who want it?

'Title text' really annoys me. If I enter something like 'RAC membership and e-Cigs sold on eBay by BBC', I don't want to see it appear as 'Rac Membership And E-Cigs Sold on Ebay by Bbc'

I think that Balric is correct in that BBC is actually B.B.C.; RAF is R.A.F.; RAC is R.A.C.; and so on.

Correct in what regard Stuey? None of those use a full stop in their title.

I agree for the sake of a title here it would work - to be honest as long as I can make sense of what it means then that's OK.

If you type B.B.C. it will still appear as B.b.c.

Really, JD; I've never actually typed a title saying for example U.S.A. I just assumed that if I did it would appear that way...So much for assumption, eh?

There needs to be a space between each word. U.S.A. &c is regarded as one word.

It was ***ed out as a swear word. This is ludicrous it means medical problems can not be mentioned.

The AB actually did a poll (link in your link) and nearly double preferred free form titles than Capital titles.

But that result has been ignored.
