Many congratulations, Jourdain :-)
When are you going, 237SJ ?.
Thank you, tonyav and Prudie. No, not in France but in glorious E. Riding. Seriously - blue skies all day, been outside in a jumper (no coat needed) and got a load of washing dried (very romantic!). Birds tweeting, snowdrops bobbing in drifts under the hedges - where else to be? Am going to ring a friend in France to commiserate with him on the terribly cold weather they are experiencing - he got back home, switched heating on and was flooded ; a radiator had frozen and split down the middle.

In a couple of weeks. To be fair, the Middle East is a good place for a holiday at this time of the year. Only a 6 hour flight from London and good temperatures. The people are really nice (they have a good sense of humour) and the food and service is fab. I have an fantastic deal through work so what's not to like?
And yogi :)

Blimey jourdain, it must have been seriously cold for that to happen.
Sounds great, 237SJ. Have a great time.

Thank you Tony
It is, tony. I can remember -19C, but we were inhabiting the house. My (uninhabited) house burst taps and pipes and took weeks of mess an plumbers to fix. Just hoping that Mr. J2's house (still on the market) is OK.
Is there anyway that you could get one of your old neighbours to check Mr j's house out to make sure things are ok, jourdain.
Have a great time, 23....I liked Qatar very much, food was excellent and as you said, people very nice indeed. :-)
( Stayed at The Four Seasons in Doha )
Yes, we can ring Marcel( who has a key)but he has had a heart attack and is trying not to go out. It is still extremely cold there so there is no rush - once it starts to warm up we mayhave to take action. Fortunately we do not have the old cast-iron radiators and we always had trouble with air in the system -so we are crossing out fingers and hoping. It really is bad there.

Yes Doha is nice. I have a deal - 5* hotel. £71 per night for the room. 30% off all food and drinks (including alcohol) and 20% off the spa. You couldn't even stay in the Premier Inn for that price
Fingers crossed that all will be well then, jourdain.
That's what I'd like to know! I appreciate it had my 40th in the middle of this month but it seems to have flown by in a whisper....
That's a great deal, 23....Enjoy yourself :-)

NoM, Congratulations on turning 40...x.... you're just a spring chicken, my lovely...:-)....I'm an older turkey at 50
