Has anyone ever done an OU course ? I am thinking about doing one, just for my own satisfaction. But I left school at 14( further education for a girl in my family was not deemed necessary as I would get married ) I have sinced worked constantly and created a successful company, but I do wonder what if ? But feel a bit daunted, willpower I have, but I wonder if my memory would be adequate.

Yes, I got both my degrees from the OU, having messed up at brick uni.

Things are a bit different now to when I was in the OU. The fees were subsidised by the govt. and I got help from my County Council as I was a single mother.

Nowadays, it's as expensive as the fees that any other student at a brick uni would pay. However, my nephew is going to start an OU degree later this year, and has got a bursary from somewhere.

Anyway, it doesn't sound as if you're worried about the money side.
Go for it. You will get lots of support from tutors and fellow students. It's fun as well as hard work, and so worth it when you put that gown on at the end of it all. Good luck!

Give it a try. I have three OU degrees, and loved doing them all. I'm only sad that it's so much more expensive these days than when I did it. Why are you worried about your memory ?

Yes...me!
I got about half way through a general Humanities degree,then a divorce and life got in the way.
I thoroughly enjoyed the courses I did....including a History of Medicine, and another exploring the Enlightenment. I do hope to resume my studies...someday.
I definitely recommend the OU.

I wasn't quite that old when I got my last degree, and I admit my age was one factor which has decided me not to go on for a Masters.

But, there are very many successful graduates in their sixties and older as far as I can recall. There were certainly people a lot older than me (in my forties and fifties) on Summer Schools and Tutorials.

Go on, go for it, you won't regret it.

Got my OU degree at 50. Was hard work but I have never regretted it. There were many other students on my modules who were in their 70's and even 80's. Try a short course first, or a course on Open Learn which are free to see how you get on.

Thanks for all your encouragement. I have been looking at the Open Learn. I think I will try that first.
