Getting Documents Certfied In Germany.

Can anyone who is familiar with Germany tell me if there is such a thing as a notary who can verify documents and perhaps an idea of how much this would cost per document. or perhaps some local institution like Town hall can do this I am not sure.

Is the certified document for use within Germany or outside of it? Only 'apostilles', issued under the Hague Convention and certified by the German Federal Office of Administration, are likely to be acceptable abroad.

The document is to be sent to UK to a financial institution basically to confirm identity
