I called into doctors there to get a letter blah blah. Another lady came in behind me - by the way no receptionist - she was in with the doctors.

Anyway lady proceeded to tell me that was her 3rd trip to get a prescription. It wasn't there again today

The receptionist became visibly upset when lady was giving off about the practice.

One realises it is not receptionist's fault if things go a bit awry.

Anyway lady left and receptionist proceeded to hunt my letter which was there ok but receptionist was saying because practice has reduced from whole days to half day and I personally think this surgery will close completely and concentrate on the other surgery elsewhere.

She sorta advised me to start looking for another doctor and she recommended a doctor a cuppla doors away.

Would you change your doctors knowing this and also is this not the norm for any practice nowadays. She did mention this doctor was under a lot of pressure too.

I don't do doctors - just get a monthly prescription and avoid them like hell.

Thanks for your thoughts.

If I thought my surgery may soon be closing I'd look for somewhere now rather than wait - I'd ask people in the neighbourhood what they thought of the practice they were with.
I think on balance, given her hints and your expectations, you should change.

If that's ^^ the case can't see it making much difference to you JJ

I have changed doctors throughout the years on the recommendation of others and believe it or not the "new" doctors were fabulous but then within about 4 years the "new" doctors left for one reason or another leaving you with the "crappy" doctors.

There is one doctor in this practice and she automatically says "no I can't give you this and that". Even her name came up today - she is unbelievable. Don't like the look of her. I have been with her maybe a cuppla times and she stares at you blankly - then says "no that wouldn't be good".

Rumours!

You have a point there Baldric. By the way would any of you know that if you changed doctors would your prescription go with them if you know what I mean.
Given your number of issues and that you frequently complain that it takes you 4 weeks to get a doctor then I would change.

But on the subject of the Dr do you think she is not giving you what you want because she doesn't like you or could it be that she doesn't give you what you want because medically it's not the best thing for you?
I'd say you're lucky there is a new doctors only a couple of doors away. If mine shut, I'd have to travel miles as I live out in the sticks...
......... same here cupid.
"" given you're number of issues " ? Have a think about changing gp,s JJ. You may not see you're gp much at the moment, but maybe in the future ?
Why can't your gp refer you on to the other doctors if he's thinking of packing it in? I'd speak to the gp first and ask him is it true what you heard and could he refer you to a colleague
