I went to Mala Mala in South Africa some years ago. It was amazing.
It was our wintertime. Everything was great; food, drink, ranger, tracker, seeing the Big Five.
You might need malaria pills. Ask at your doctor's surgery. They will know the current medical advice.

Actually the first thing any GP is likely to do is to look here:
http://travelhealthpro.org.uk/countries
That's the official Government health advice service, co-funded by the Department of Health and the Foreign & Commonwealth Office. So you can get the same information there which your GP will look at anyway.
Went to Kruger Natinal Park a couple of years ago as part of a South African tour. Had a day Safari first as part of the trip but signed up for a night one, which was brilliant if somewhat scary when we came across an elephant and her cub who looked about to charge at us. Fortunately the diver out his foot on the pedal and we scampered PDQ. One of the best parts was staying at the "Hippo Hollow hotel" which had a family of hippos swam up the river every night and grazed ver close to the decking area of the dining room. Magical, so close.
Last year, I went to Phnom Tamao Wildlife Rescue Center in Cambodia as a part of my SEA trip and I was very amazed. I never expected that the sanctuary is that beautiful and the close encounter to the animals is just wonderful. The animals are not just animals, these were rescued from illegal wildlife trade. It holds over 1,200 numbers of animals in 102 species including rare animals like Siamese crocodiles and Malayan sun bears. I would highly recommend this to you as going here is also very cheap compare to the rest of the world.
