I enjoy his 'Great American Rail Journeys'..but how does he not suffer a migraine upon opening his Wardrobe...Still,the Yanks seem to love his 'Costumes'....Senor Portillo, playing the 'English Eccentric'.

Hi, K.......there's not much worse than an Englishman's dull wardrobe.....

With the addition of a snazzy waistcoat or dazzling cravat or tie a suit can be extremely sexy......not forgetting the cuff links...love cuff links...or a serious pin striped suit with a flash of daring sock.....

I like Portillo's wardrobe...probably because of the way he carries it off......☺
He can now mince in technicolour ;-)

Hi,gness..agree..MP does 'carry it off well'.

I also enjoyed Simon Sebag Montifiore's series,in Italy..but was distracted by his,Pale Blue Shirt and Khaki pants,in every episode..a bit dull..and could'nt help thinking,does he possess a number of the same clothes,or..is he a little bit'whiffy'? ;o)
I love Portillo's dress sense. Lots of colour. I wish more men weren't afraid of it.
Me too, Pasta.....just so interesting and laid back....x
Hmmm, just had a thought. Maybe I like his clothes 'cos I'm a yank

Could be, Pasta.....but I'm Irish and I love them......♣

With the odd splash of khaki...
Pah!!!......You have no red trousers, Shoota?...Shame on you......x
That's right, I have no red trousers. Why would one?
Best I can do is a dull rust corduroy.
Best I can do is a dull rust corduroy.

A bit flash aren't they, shoota. Are you a born again hippy ?.
I didn't buy them T, I inherited them.
He does have a very distinctive walk.
Good lad, shoota. Are they bell bottoms ?.
No Tony, they are Marks and Spencers.
Ah I see, that explains the funny walk then, shoota.
It explains why Mark and Spencer are freezing their butts off....x

Hi,pastafreak,

As we learned from James Fenimore Cooper,in his classic "The Last of the Mohicans",Native Americans referred to their barbaric oppressors as,"Y'engish",hence "Yankees",a corruption of "English".So that,er..makes you 'One of us'! ;o)

Although,I suspect I would be 'In a whole heapa trouble',if I addressed anyone that way,in the Southern States! :-)
Oh! Thanks for that kwanabe. I've never heard that before.
