If any one out there can help me please do. When I boot up my system ever thing is running smooth as silk. But if I leave my system running for a few hours it starts to bog down. Applications that used to open in seconds take minutes! I checked the task manager and it looks like vsmon.exe is eating up 85 to 100% of my cpu time! Is this common with Zone Alarm? Can I fix it or must i uninstall it and go with some other fire wall?

Have you got a good anti virus software installed? You might need it. Read this from Zone Labs that vsmon can be "hijacked" by a worm.

The Zone Labs vsmon.exe process will never request network access. Any program using this name and requesting network access should be treated with caution and denied network access.

The worm uses the name vsmon.exe, so beware!

Worth giving the Symantec Online virus scanner a go

See if it picks anything up.
Zone Alarm is typically a Firewall and Spybot looks for adware and spyware - sounds like you lack virus protection.

If your AVG is kept up-to-date then don't worry about it.

Did the Norton scan run, and did it pick an issues up?
