Are you capable of listening carefully to the evidence, the testimonies, and being impartial and not biased in any way?
If not, you should excuse yourself from serving as a juror, as you would not be giving the defendant a fair trial.
Hope you don't get a messy suspected murder case, as they can get very graphic in detail, and you need a good stomach to get through it.....but sometimes all is not what it seems, so you've got to really listen and take in all the evidence before making your kind up.
Oh and good luck.

take a book and your lunch ( pret a manger at Piccadilly tram stop)
I had three days reading eight hours a day before being selected - which was terrifically boring TBH
The canteen is truly truly crip and they wont give you hot water for your own drinks and just shrug their shoulders if you complain
The mens bogs hadnt been cleaned - but that shouldnt affect you
other than that - not too bad
the cases - o I couldnt possibly comment

I think you might have misread Mon on the public details as Man
the last note I sent the judge began " Sir, five jurors as they came in this morning heard shouts of "it had better be not guilty!" from people they had previously seen in the gallery yesterday....."
He (J) went crazy - wig all over th place that sort of stuff
I didnt report that some of the men wanted to sally forth and mix it with the gang members ... too much detail

Don't worry about it, you'll be OK. Whilst I appreciate what yogi-bear says, no one will ask the question in the first line of his post. You're listening ability and impartiality will be taken as read, otherwise you would have informed the necessary people by returning the document that came with your notice to attend. The document gives you the opportunity to explain these things to excuse yourself from service if necessary on a number of grounds but they need to be genuine and the Jury Selection Office will make the final decision.
If there is anything in a potential Juror's character that is likely to compromise a case after they turn up at the Jury Room, the court ushers are very good at spotting it. We've all turned up in the Jury Attendance room before a case with people that are loudmouths or anarchic or fidgety people or even the potentially ill sitting beside us believe me.
As far as long cases such as murder is concerned, you need not worry. Jurors are asked if they can commit their lives for the duration of a long case. If they can't, they are excused. Every court has a rough idea of the length of a case before them.

If you do get on a trial PLEASE do not discuss the details of the case on here or anywhere apart from the jury room. A trial will be halted and a retrial called if it is found that details were being discussed outside the jury room.I remember a few months back a post had to be removed because the poster was telling us details of the prosecution case! It could even mean the defendant being freed as a fair trail was not possible!

but ( or ...and) she could always say she got it from the papers.
you are also enjoined not to discuss what went on in the jury room ( unlike jury polling in America where they ask how many times Juror 6 wiped his ...) - but the details of the case may be in the public domain anyway but clearly no details of the jury discussions ( reporting banned under pain of contempty of court )
the jury nobbling I spoke of
went completely unreported in the media - along with the case.
[ the legal teams had worked out I was partially sighted but were unsure if the public gallery had. You dont do an IQ test to be a gang member...] - so that case cannot be identified as there is absolutely no mention of it on the internet. I have had a good look.
Oh and you cant do internet searches on the defendants and witnesses.... altho you can afterwards....You read hair raising accounts of their previous antics ( in this case beating up a half-blind man)

a secretary was telling frenz about a coronation st plot
the doctor had killed a patient in his surgery (" it was chronic!") and come out of the consultation room as sweete as pie and didnt say anything
so the police came and questioned all the patients in the waiting room an those going thro the other consultation rooms (" I dont know how much this cost to do")
and then about a year later I realised that she was involved in one of the Shipman murders ( the one where he kills someone in his surgery and keeps the body .....)
