Answering The Telephone

I was watching Murder She Wrote in bed last night while I was reading. She had to run to answer a telephone call, and it struck me what a pleasure it used to be to receive a telephone call, years ago.

Anyone who rang you was either a friend or family member who you wanted to speak to. Nowadays the ring of the telephone engenders suspicions and uneasiness.

It's quite sad really. :(
