Maybe a heavy subject for national day off before the long holiday ....
But anyway ...
Was watching a recorded TV show last night called Smugglers I think it was.
Anyway they were searching for drugs at the major ports and finding quantities of Cocaine , Heroine and Cannabis.
What got me thinking was that the more successful they are at finding drugs and stopping the supply , then the laws of supply and demand says that those drugs that are on the street will increase in price. Thus the kind of people who take drugs (other than rock stars from the 70's) most likely have to turn to criminal activities to finance their habit.
Thus the better the job the customs officers do , the more crime they cause as a side effect.
What would happen to society if drugs were made legal and sold in a controlled fashion ?
The price of drugs would crash ...drug dealers would go out of business ...
Some scum bag will be less likely to turn to street crime to finance a habit , if they can buy them for next to nowt in Boots or somewhere ....
What would be the effect on society if all the drug users were on a permanent high ...or whatever effect the drugs give you ?
I think that would work, with a dealer you can get in debt easily when your weekend fun gets too routine. If its a shop selling it then you can't borrow it either.
Another point, they could put a cap on how much can be bought over a time span to decrease the likelihood of over dose.
