How come there is cultural variation in eye shape? i.e. asian eyes

There is also a point sometimes made that - after the Ice Age had passed - only a relatively small breeding population was left scattered across the northern part of the world. As a result, any small physical difference was more likely to be passed on to future generations in any given locality and eventually - if it proved to be advantageous - out into wider populations. A combination of the above might explain today's widespread eyelid-shape variation.
