Savile rotated with three other presenters: Alan Freeman, Pete Murray and David Jacobs

WELL WHATEVER IT WAS I KNOw I WATCHED IT, AND i never missed one until June 1978 (cos i went on my honeymoon) . my fave is between Flick Colby dancing to Bridge Over Troubled water under that solo spotlight and pans people dancing to Your So Vain in those samey but different coloured dresses

I loved Pans People, dot! I so wanted to be a Pans person when I grew up :o)

I think they introduced a 'singing live' policy in the 90's..before then I think very few groups/singers performed live. I remember New Order performing 'Blue Monday' live in 1983 but it didn't go down too well..neither did the groups/singers in the 90's when the format was changed.

I seem to remember watching clips of the first TOTPs in the 60's ~ didn't they used to put a record on in full view of the audience & TV viewers that the performers mimed to?

I'm gutted its going was brought up with totp, but its been pretty crap since about the middle 90's used to love it in the 70's and 80's it always looked fun balloons, hats, glitter from the ceiling and the groups forgetting to mime into the mic! These days they just stand there like they have a problem with the camera on them {audience} the bands look like they would rather be else where and the presenters look like they dont know what to do next. I loved the different djs every week, legs and co and the fact that it looked like everyone was having a really good time and all the boy bands looked so good you would melt now the boy bands look like the boys at the shopping centre on skateboards so maybe it is time to quit,
