I haven't seen anything in the news about it, though they were threatening one in Gloucs a week ago.

looking on the bright side, i've saved half a dozen stamps from crossword entries that i probably wouldn't have won anyway

They did indeed keep that quiet.
our postie came today
Probably a purely local issue....and if the letterboxes were blocked, that's Royal Mail's doing....not the Post Office.

deepest apologies for mentioning the post office, it is of course a royal mail issue, sigh
I got all my normal mail today plus a special guaranteed insured delivery which was tracked and signed for.

Your postie is employed by The Royal Mail Group ( which is why he brought you all those lovely bills today ) :-)

Post Office Ltd is a state owned limited company , now totally separate from the privatised, Royal Mail Group
The strike is about , the Post Office plans to transfer up to 61 branches into WH Smith stores .
The move was part of a 10-year plan to cut costs and save cash, and would act as a way of "safeguarding the future of the network."
^ They've already done that in my town.
Yes it's a Post office issue not a Royal Mail issue- assuming the blocked up post boxes were at certain post offices. If that's the case then you could have posted at any post box that wasn't part of an affected PO. but as there so few post offices involved in the dispute and you found two then maybe there is a local strike affecting Royal Mail
